How to Use Railroad Signals
If you want to put more than one train on a railroad track, you have to use signals. Signals divide sections of track into blocks. Only one train can occupy a block at a time. But, a single train can be in mutiple blocks at the same time.
Signal types
There are double signals and single signals available in Simutrans. Trains can pass through a double signal from both directions. Single signals limit a train to moving only in one direction. A train will move only towards the face of the signal, and will not move toward the dark side of a signal. The signal on the right hand side of the track (relative to the direction of travel of the train) controls the movement of the train.Placing signals
- Select the signal building tool (by clicking the signal-icon in the rail-tools menu)
- Click on a rail
Altering signals
If you click an existing signal again with the signal building tool, the signal will be switched to another signal type, like shown below:- Double Signal
- Single Signal (left direction)
- Single Signal (right direction)
